Severe thunderstorm warning in effect

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the East Kootenay including Cranbrook and the Elk Valley.

At 7:10 p.m. Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologists are tracking a near stationary line of severe thunderstorms from 24 kilometres northeast of Cranbrook to Sparwood. These thunderstorms are capable of producing very strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
