St. Mary/Wycliffe fire being held
The BC Wildfire Service reports the St. Mary River fire in Wycliffe, about 12 kilometres northwest of Cranbrook is still active but being held at about 6.7 hectares.
The Regional District of East Kootenay’s Evacuation Order remains in effect for three properties in the Wycliffe Park Road, Wycliffe Store Road and Pattinson Road as an 11-member BC Wildfire Service firefighting crew tends to the fire, which began yesterday (July 19).
“This fire is classified as being held, meaning that further growth of the fire is not anticipated based on current conditions and suppression tactics,” BC Wildfire Service noted.
An evacuation order is in place.
