Still time to enter Science Fair 2017

Students: There is still plenty of time to put together a science project!

Last year there were over 150 projects with hundreds of dollars in prizes and scholarships. This is your chance to win the fair and represent the Kootenays in the Canada-Wide Science Fair 2017 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Dates: Friday and Saturday, March 10-11.

Where: College of the Rockies, Cranbrook.

Theme:  Ecology – The science of ecology is the analysis and study of interactions among organisms and their environment. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes biology, geography, and Earth science. It can include; earth biosphere and biomes, environmental studies, food chains within ecosystems, human influences on ecosystems and habitat change over time. The theme sets how we promote the fair this year. It does not mean projects must be about ecology.

There will be a variety of exhibits from our industry, government and community partners with hands-on activities. Presenters include: Tipi Mountain Eco-cultural Services; APEG; Blue Lake; Yiwan Woo – Cbk Hearing Loss clinic; COTR- RN students and faculty; Lance Cuthill – Bees and/RadioMore ; Cutter Ranch; More to be announced.

Friday, March 10– Competitive Fair for students Grade 6-12.

Saturday, March 11 – Non-competitive Fair for students K-5.

Volunteers needed for both days: Judges for Friday and helpers for Friday and Saturday that can commit to 2hrs, 4hrs or all day. Please contact Tess Green at [email protected] .
