About a new life for Elkview Mine

1. Elkview Mine needs access to new coal to keep the mine operating. Government approved extension to Baldy Ridge adding 30 years to the mine life.

2. Three decades is an average work life. This decision means young men and women in the Elk Valley and Cranbrook have an opportunity for a family-supporting job for a whole career.

3. The environmental certificate requires Teck to continue to mitigate selenium levels over time, to mitigate potential impacts on wildlife and fish, to help Sparwood with one of its drinking water wells if necessary and to mitigate visual impacts.
