Three new fires overnight
Last night’s lightning show produced three new fires in the region, with two small ones near Fernie and another about 16 km southeast of Fort Steele, on the east side of the Kootenay River that the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports is .9 ha.
Two new fires are reported west and south of Fernie. One is in the Lizard Creek drainage about three km west of Mount Fernie Provincial Park. It is noted as being .1 ha in size.
The other, at .04 ha, is in the high country in the Lizard Range.
