Upcoming RDEK Public Hearings

The following is the roster of upcoming Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) public hearings, to be held in between June 23 and 30 by Zoom.

Bylaw No. 2654

“Regional District of East Kootenay – SweetWater Zoning and Floodplain Management Bylaw No. 2127, 2009 – Amendment Bylaw No. 5, 2015 (Miscellaneous / RDEK)” and will correct an error resulting from the adoption of the RDEK Campground Bylaw in 2013. The Campground Bylaw permits cottages within campgrounds only. Prior to the adoption of the Campground Bylaw, the SweetWater Zoning & Floodplain Management Bylaw defined cottages as a single-family dwelling smaller than 93 m2 with no basement and permitted this use in the R-1(C), small lot zone. The permitted use of cottage in the R-1(C) zone is now incorrect as a cottage is only permitted in a campground.

Bylaw No. 2973

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Lake Koocanusa Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2432, 2013 – Amendment Bylaw No. 4, 2019 (Sweetwater / KV Properties Inc.)” will amend the designation of part of Lot 2, District Lot 10348, Kootenay District Plan EPP14443 from C, Commercial to R-SF, Residential Low Density.

Bylaw No. 2974

“Regional District of East Kootenay – SweetWater Zoning and Floodplain Management Bylaw No. 2127, 2009 – Amendment Bylaw No. 7, 2019 (Sweetwater / KV Properties Inc.)” will amend the designation of part of Lot 2, District Lot 10348, Kootenay District Plan EPP14443 from C-1, Mixed Use Village Commercial Zone to R-1(B), Single Family Residential – Medium Lot Zone.

Bylaw No. 2981

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Rockyview Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2255, 2010 – Amendment Bylaw No. 25, 2020 (Cranbrook North / Hill)” will amend the designation of the northerwest quarter of the northwest quarter of the west half of District Lot 3570, Kootenay District from LH, Large Holdings to MH, Medium Holdings.

Bylaw No. 2982

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Electoral Area C South Zoning & Floodplain Management Bylaw No. 2913, 2019 – Amendment Bylaw No. 4, 2020 (Cranbrook North / Hill)” will amend the designation of the northerwest quarter of the northwest quarter of the west half of District Lot 3570, Kootenay District from RR-8, Rural Residential (Country) Zone to RR-2, Rural Residential (Small Holding) Zone.

Bylaw No. 2989

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Fairmont Hot Springs & Columbia Lake Area Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2779, 2017 – Amendment Bylaw No. 6, 2020 (Fairmont / Martin)” will amend the OCP designation of the subject property from GC, General Commercial to R-SF, Residential Low Density.

Bylaw No. 2990

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Upper Columbia Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 900, 1992 – Amendment Bylaw No. 362, 2020 (Fairmont / Martin)” will amend the subject
property from C-2, Service Commercial Zone to R-1, Single Family Residential Zone

Bylaw No. 2975

“Regional District of East Kootenay – Upper Columbia Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 900, 1992 – Amendment Bylaw No. 359, 2020 (Westside / 1129759 Alb Ltd)” will amend the designation of Lot 1, District Lot 4596, Kootenay District, Plan NEP88930, Except Plan EPP43962, from A-1, Rural Resource Zone to SH-2, Small Holding Semi-Rural Zone.
