Crystal Methamphetamine seized during vehicle stop

An Elk Valley RCMP Officer conducting a vehicle stop came across more than a driver without a license last week. The passenger was found to be in possession of a small amount of Crystal Meth, which was seized as evidence. Both driver and passenger were arrested for drug and obstruction related offences and released for court at a later date.

Single motor vehicle accident

On January 13, 2019, Elk Valley RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle accident involving a stolen Subaru Outback. At this time, there are no witnesses to the cause of the accident, which occurred on Highway 3 in the rock cuts near Elko. There was extensive damage to the vehicle.

Anyone who may have witness this accident or have any knowledge of theft of vehicle, is encouraged to contact the Elk Valley RCMP at (250) 425-6233.

Attempted theft of motor vehicle

On January 13, a male attempted to steal a 2011 Toyota Tacoma by damaging the ignition but did not succeed. Elk Valley RCMP, along with the assistance of the public, were able to identify a possible suspect. The RCMP would like thank those members of the public for calling in with their information and assistance.

Theft from vehicle

On January 13, in the early morning on Cokato Road, personal items were stolen from an unlocked 2000 Toyota Echo. RCMP want to remind the public that it is essential to keep your vehicles locked at all times when not in use.

Elk Valley RCMP would like to make the public aware of Section 191(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, which states, “A motor vehicle must be equipped with a lock or other device to prevent the unauthorized use of the motor vehicle.” It also states that, “A driver must not permit a motor vehicle to stand unattended or parked unless the driver has (a) locked it or make it secure in a manner that prevents its unauthorized use.”

Failure to secure your vehicle could net you a fine of $81.
