Elk Valley RCMP is alerting residents about a recent telephone scam.

The caller identifies as someone from Telus offering a promotional offer and through conversation gains credit card information and Social Insurance Number from the client, RCMP explained on social media.

“Please use caution when dealing with any callers and remember you can hang up and call a company directly to request changes to your account using the customer service telephone number found on your bill.”
