The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the May 28 District of Elkford council meeting.

Sparwood Coal Miner Days Parade

The District of Elkford will participate in the Coal Miner Days Parade in Sparwood (pictured above) on June 9. This is a great opportunity to support our neighbour and means that Elkford will be represented at one of the Elk Valley’s most popular events of the year. Sparwood will be reciprocating the support by attending the Wildcat Days Parade in Elkford on June 30.

Elkford to receive $25,000 grant for the new energy efficient district office

Considering the district’s commitment to energy efficiency, the District of Elkford entered into an agreement with the North Growth Foundation for $25,000 in matching funding to install a solar photovoltaic energy generation system at the new district office.

Development Permit No. 18-01 for new district office approved

Council approved the permit for the new District of Elkford Municipal Office at 744 Fording Drive. The official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new facility took place on May 24. Minor site preparation has already begun, and construction will amp up over the next few weeks. Pictured: Council dug in at the May 24 Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New District Office!
