Annex Park Playground coming
The City of Fernie’s Annex neighbourhood will soon have a new playground, with construction starting on the Annex Park Playground June 5.
The nature-based all ages play area is planned to be open July 15 for lots of adventure and fun.
The playground construction will be completed by BDI Play Design. During construction, the contractor will have construction fencing and may close the nearby walking path as required. Please obey all construction signage.
This project is funded through the Resort Municipality Fund and private donations. Total budget for the project, which also includes an outdoor amphitheatre to be constructed at the end of June, was $248,000.
This project is a result of robust community engagement through the greater Annex Dike Upgrades and Active Transportation improvements project, Community Advisory Committee.
The goal of the Annex Park improvements is to provide park activities that promote wellness and benefit the overall community. Highlights of the playground include accessible play opportunities for disabled users, and that the area is not just child-focused – it’s suitable for many demographics of people.
