The City of Fernie has issued a notice of a temporary treated effluent discharge to the Elk River.

The City of Fernie wishes to advise area residents that in order to dispose of excessive amounts of storm water in the sanitary sewer collection system it is necessary to temporarily discharge treated effluent to the Elk River.

The discharge will take place from March 3 through to approximately April 14, in accordance with a B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy operating permit.
