Fairy Creek Reservoir rehab work underway
Important rehabilitation work is getting underway this week on the City of Fernie’s Fairy Creek Reservoir to ensure the continued viability of the city’s primary drinking water supply.
Contractors will be repairing interior and exterior concrete, and installing new cladding over the structure, with work expected to wrap up by late October.
In order to complete this work the reservoir will be partially drained, and there will be less capacity available. To facilitate this work and ensure we can continue providing water to the community while its being completed, the city will remain on Stage 2 Watering Restrictions for the duration of the project.
Thank you to those who’ve helped us conserve water this summer by following the new watering guidelines.
A refresher on watering restrictions can be found on the city’s website.
