Fernie OCP update kicks off with public open house

Official Community Plans (OCP)are documents, periodically updated, that guide elected bodies in how they determine legislation and approvals for development in a given municipality or regional district.

They are among the most important guidance documents that any local government holds in its possession.

The City of Fernie is embarking on its OCP update. In order to gather the necessary updated information for the OCP, the city is hosting a series of public events.

The first public event will be an open house, which will comprise presentations about what an OCP is and the update process, as well as interactive stations where participants can learn about the key policy areas and provide input into important community issues and opportunities.

All Fernie residents, second-home owners, employers and stakeholders are invited.

City of Fernie staff and consultants will be present to guide people through the open house and answer questions.

The open house is Thursday, October 4, from 5 – 8:30 p.m. at the Fernie Community Centre (901 6th Avenue).
