UPDATE: The gas line leak has been repaired on Aspen Crescent and all residents are back in their home.

Fernie Fire Rescue and had three vehicles dispatched and Fortis Gas had the leak repaired. The area is safe for residents to resume normal activity.

Earlier today City of Fernie residents and visitors were asked to avoid the Aspen Crescent area until further notice due to a gas line leak at a residential property.

Fernie Fire Rescue is on scene and has evacuated three properties due to the leak.

Fortis BC has been contacted and will be on site shortly to make repairs. In the meantime, please avoid the area.

The city reported on its website it will provide an update as soon as new information is available.
