Fernie-based commercial photographer Charné Baird has published her first children’s book, Elk Valley Alphabet Adventures, and is hosting a book launch on June 9.

Join in on the launching this beautiful, local book on June 9, from 3:30 – 4 p.m. at Polar Peak Books.

The event will include an engaging read of Elk Valley Alphabet Adventures by the author, followed by a Q & As and a book signing.

All attendees will receive a take-home colouring sheet, a first look at something new coming to the Elk Valley Alphabet series, plus the chance to win draw prizes.

Elk Valley Alphabet Adventures is a rhyming, interactive children’s book created for the whole family.

Baird pairs her stunning local photography with playful rhymes and engaging prompts that spark curiosity, build literacy skills, and encourage adventure. Inspired by her own children and her family’s love of the outdoors, Charné created this book to grow with young readers, inviting families everywhere to explore, learn, and enjoy together.

Charné Baird, [shar-NAE] is an award-winning commercial photographer with over a decade of experience, combining her creative eye and passion for the outdoors to create Elk Valley Alphabet Adventures.

Inspired by her children, Charné set out to make a local children’s book that sparks curiosity and encourages adventure. When she’s not behind the camera or writing, you’ll find her biking, running, swimming, skiing, or simply enjoying what Fernie and the Elk Valley have to offer.

The book is aimed for an audience of three to10 years. This is a free event and children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
