The schedule for Fernie Heritage Library for November 2017, including Meet the Sitter Day: Thursday, November 2, 6-7 p.m.

Family Programming   

Storytime (Ages 3-5 years)

Tuesdays 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Toddlertime (Ages 0-2 years)

Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.

NEW: Family Storytime: Saturday, Nov 25  from 1-1:30 p.m.

Stories, singing and fun for babies-preschoolers and the whole family too! Once a month drop-in on the main floor.

NEW: Family Early Years Hub, Tuesdays 1-3 p.m.

Are you new to town, a new grandparent or someone who wants to know more about what Fernie offers for families with children from infant to five years? Join Jodie Parker (Fernie Early Years coordinator) for this weekly drop in, to find out more. Children’s Activities for Grades 1-6  

Tuesdays 3:45 -5 p.m. Legends of the TITANIC (Drop-In, ages 10+) *NEW*

Fascinating stories, facts and activities about the “Unsinkable Queen of the Ocean.”

Wednesdays  3:45-5 p.m. LEGO CLUB (ages 7+). New challenge every week  REGISTRATION: FULL

Thursdays 3:45-5 p.m. CALENDAR KIDS (Drop-in, ages 7+)

We are creating our own calendar pages with local scenes and by local talent! Drop-in, simple snack provided.

FUN FRIDAY and SUPER SATURDAY Friday, Nov 24 (FULL) and Saturday, Nov 25  2-4 p.m.

Behind the Lens: An introduction to filmmaking and producing by the creation of a 60-second micro documentary with Alex Hanson.  Registration for ages 10-12+.  Sponsored by the Reel Film Fest. Limited spaces.

Tweens and Teens

Meet the Sitter Day: Thursday, November 2, 6-7 p.m.

Are you a parent of young children looking for a sitter? Are you a teen or tween who is keen to babysit? Let’s all meet! Children/babies are welcome as well as all potential babysitters and families looking for childcare at this informal meet and greet. Babysitters please register by emailing  [email protected]

Pizza League Thursday, November 16, 6-7 p.m.

Monthly teen drop in (ages 13+) for free pizza and board games. Pizza generously donated by Elk Valley Pizza Shoppe.

Adult Programming

Tea and Talk Book Club: Friday, November 24 at 1:30 p.m.

Copies of the current monthly book are available from the library.

Walkie Talkie Book Club – Wednesday, Nov 15 at 10 a.m. (Book: Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese).

An outdoor, walking book club. We will meet on the front steps of the library, walk along along the river path and chat as we go.  Email [email protected] for further information.

Knit Clique

Drop-In Knitting, crocheting and any other yarny endeavour every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the upstairs reference library. BYO project. Please enter through the back entrance.

Booked Event: Adam Lewis Schroeder Thursday, November 23 at 7 p.m.

This Canadian novelist and short story writer will be telling us about his fascination with zombies and more. Schroeder, author of All Day Breakfast, will be interviewed by Angie Abdou as part of this Booked! event which includes live music by the Hark Raving Sirens and a cash bar. All are welcome.  Suggested donation of $10/person at the door.

Ukulele 101 Thursday, Nov 9 6:30 -7:30 p.m.

Register for this free, one-hour beginner workshop to playing the ukulele. You can borrow a ukulele from the library during the workshop and keep it for two weeks to practice your new skills. Email [email protected] for further information or to register. Limited spots available.
