A big shoutout to the 50 local classrooms that submitted names as part of the City of Fernie’s 2023 Snowplow Naming Contest!

Drumroll please… the winning names are:

Clearopathra – Ms. Bell’s M/W/F class at Bright Beginnings Preschool;

Snow Mama – Ms. Barras’ Grade 2 class at Ecole Isabella Dicken Elementary;

Mr. Pickle – Ms. Foskins’ Grade 4 class at the Fernie Academy;

Darth Blader – Mr. Hanson’s Grade 5 class at Ecole Isabelle Dicken Elementary;

Christmas Potato – Ms. Verity’s Grade 3 class at the Fernie Academy.

Five pieces of winter equipment will be labelled with the winning names, so keep your eyes peeled for everyone’s favourite festive spud, Christmas Potato, and the rest of the gang (Clearopathra leading the way of course) next time it snows!

Thanks to all the students who participated! We’re looking forward to hosting this year’s winners at the Operations Facility in the new year to see these big machines up close (including Mr. Pickle- the biggest dill in town!) and learn more about our winter operations.
