Virtual Canada Day Concert line up announced

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Fernie and other community groups to bring a Virtual Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1.

ā€œWe are especially excited about our virtual concert line up. The concert will kick off with a virtual community singing of ā€˜O Canadaā€™ led by Hark Raving Sirens and will be followed by performances by Redgirl, Wild Honey, The Runs and Shred Kelly,ā€ the Fernie Chamber of Commerce stated today (June 24).

ā€œThis is 100% local line up of amazing local talent across many musical genres!ā€

Wild Honey

Redgirl is a light shade of bluegrass with some visible folk roots showing. Fronted by the clear and fearless vocals of Anie Radish, Redgirlā€™s music is built around her pure and unfettered voice, clawhammer banjo, guitar and, occasionally, a sassy ukulele. Michael Hepher (married to the girl) on lead guitar, mandolin and backing vocals, brings a balance in harmony, humour and musical creativity to the songs and stories of the band.

Wild Honey is a female trio of singer-songwriters from the East Kootenay playing roots music with a sound all their own.

The Runs (pictured right) are Fernieā€™s favourite punk rock band; back to melt your faces off and be the catalyst of an awesome living room mosh and dance party.

Shred Kelly (pictured above) is a five-piece, alternative folk-rock band that emerged from the heart of the Canadian Rockies in 2009. Over the past decade the band have taken their highly energetic live show from humble beginnings on the Canadian ski-town circuit to the international stage.

ā€œWe are especially excited to hear songs from their new record ā€˜Like a Rising Sunā€™ released on June 19ā€ and now available on iTunes.

The virtual concert kicks off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.

There will be prizes up for grabs for best dressed and best dance moves.

ā€œEnsure you are joined via zoom to be eligible to win! Log in details to be posted on the Fernie Chamber and City of Fernieā€™s Facebook pages,ā€ the chamber advised.
