What’s up at the Fernie Heritage Library

Here’s what’s happening at the Fernie Heritage Library in December.

First Thursday Social

christmascaneSaturday, December 1 at 7 p.m. Once a month social for adults to enjoy a friendly gathering on a monthly theme. December’s theme is Holiday Traditions. Join us for tea and tell us about one of your holiday traditions. There will be an opportunity to make a few Christmas cards as well. Drop-in.

Family Programming

Storytime (Ages 3-5 years)
Tuesdays 11:15 a.m.-noon
- Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Toddlertime (Ages 0-2 years)
Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15 a.m. -
Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.

Wednesday, Dec 21 – 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Storytime Plaid Party

Dress in your best plaid and join us for stories, songs and a soup potluck, for families, caregivers and babies up to five-years old.

Holiday Pajama Storytimes

December 28 and 30 at 11:15 a.m. for children 0-5 and their families. Come in your PJs and bring your favourite stuffy.

Children’s Activities for School-aged children

Tuesdays 3:30-4:45 p.m. Holiday Yarns and Garland Making

Crafting for grades 4-7. We will be working all month on garlands to take home.

Drop-In Wednesdays 3:30-4:45 p.m. Christmas Letters, cards and paper-crafts

Come make some of your own cards or write holiday letter to someone you love. ages 8+,

Drop-In Thursday 3:30-4:45 p.m. Lego Club (Dec 1 and 8). Registration FULL

Thursdays 3:30-4:45 pm Secret Santa (Dec. 15 and 22 only)
Make a special present for someone and surprise them with it! Ages 7+, Drop-In.

Teens

Thursday, December 15, 6-7:30 p.m. Pizza League for ages 13+
Drop in for pizza and fun.

Adult Programming

Tea and Talk Book Club – Friday, December 16 at 1:30 p.m. ‘My name is Lucy Barton’ by Elizabeth Strout. All are welcome. Copies of the book are available from the library.

Walkie Talkie: Wednesday December 21 at 10 a.m. ‘What Echo Heard’ by Gordon Sombrowski. We will meet at the library front steps and walk along along the river path and chat as we go. Copies of the book are available from the library.

Stitch and Bitch: Wednesday, December 7 -
Drop-In Knitting crocheting and any other yarny endeavour on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. Please enter using the back door.

Tom Uphill Manor: Wed, December 7 at 1:30 p.m. with IDES Kindergarten Class

Rocky Mountain Village Serenity Room: Wed, December 14 at 1:15 p.m. with Creative Minds Preschool

All-Ages Programming

Saturday, December 3 from 2-4 p.m. Jingle Jams (as part of The Arts Station’s Sugar Plum Festival)
 Christmas Carols and a sing-a-long time with Van and Shelagh Redecopp (SHEVA). All are welcome-tea will be on.

Saturday, Dec 17Community Christmas Celebration 2-4 p.m.

Join us for stories, treats, and activities for all ages. This annual event is a wonderful chance to connect with your neighbours. The afternoon concludes with a rousing community Christmas carol. All are welcome.

The library will be closed on December 10-12 and December 23-27, inclusive.
