Ghostriders’ Coden Fournier commits to UVic Vikes

Coden Fournier of the Fernie Ghostriders has committed to play for the University of Victoria Vikes in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League next fall.

Fournier credited his former coaches and teammates “as I wouldn’t be here without them. I am very excited for the opportunity in Victoria and look forward to being there in the fall,” he said.

Fournier, a Fort Saskatchewan native, was second on the Ghostriders with 40 points (8-32) in 44 games, then added nine points in 11 KIJHL Championship playoff games.

“I improved my aggressiveness,” he said. “Through the year working with head coach Chad Scharff, he was always on me to stay engaged physically and that really helped me create separation.”

Fournier spent three seasons with the Ghostriders playing in 111 games and collected 92 points (28-64). He played in 36 career playoff games and had 29 points (9-20).

“My time in Fernie has been nothing but positive. I truly enjoyed every minute and I owe the town and team a lot for helping me get to this next stage.”

Coden joins his brother Cole, who completed his second season with the Vikes. The brothers played together in Fernie during the 2023/24 season.
