Heavy police presence due to search for man

Early this morning (May 16), Elk Valley RCMP received a request to assist with the apprehension of a man involved in a domestic dispute in Cranbrook.

The man fled from the Elk Valley RCMP when police attempted to intercept him on Highway 3 near Elko. Police did not pursue.

The investigation continued throughout the day, seeing a heavy police presence in the South Country.

The male was ultimately located and arrested without incident at a residence in Baynes Lake.

“The male is currently in custody and is facing several new criminal charges. No one was hurt in this incident,” reported Cst. Debra Katerenchuk, Elk Valley RCMP Media Relations Officer.
