RCMP note rise of impaired driving files

Coming into the last few weeks of summer, Elk Valley RCMP has been dealing with a number of impaired driving complaints.

Recently, five people have been charged under the Provincial Immediate Roadside Sanctions program and had their vehicles impounded or drivers’ licences suspended.

On August 24, a driver was stopped for going 156 km/h an hour in a 90-km zone on Hwy 43 near Elkford. RCMP started an impaired driving investigation and finished by seizing the vehicle and fining the driver close to $500, reported Cpl. Robert Wright of Elk Valley RCMP.
