Rosen Lake East Road re-opened after gas line damage

UPDATE:

Rosen Lake East Road re-opened last night.

While Fortis has been able to stop the leak, they will remain on scene for a bit yet as they work to fully complete the repair. – RDEK

FortisBC reported the incident followed a service line damaged by an external party (that is, non-FortisBC). The incident should be “accurately described as gas line damage or a gas line breach. ‘Gas leak’ makes it sound like it spontaneously sprung a leak like bad plumbing,” a Fortis BC representative told e-KNOW.
Original story

The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) this afternoon reported there is a tactical evacuation underway of six homes in the 6700 block of Rosen Lake Road due to a gas leak.

Members of the Jaffray Fire Department are evacuating affected residents.

Fortis BC has been notified, and residents are being evacuated for safety reasons until the scene has been assessed and secured by Fortis.

No further details are available at this time and more information will be provided as it becomes available, the RDEK said.
