A reminder to those travelling through the Elk Valley with boats, kayaks, paddleboards or any recreational watercraft.

The boat inspection check stop west of Sparwood on Highway 3 is a mandatory stop for anyone transporting a watercraft while heading west through the Elk Valley.

Failing to stop at the check stop could lead to BC Conservation Officers or RCMP officers issuing a $690 ticket under the BC Wildlife Act to those failing to comply.

If you are transporting a watercraft into the Elk Valley region, please do your part to keep our lakes and other bodies of water free from invasive species by stopping as directed.
