The upper Elk Valley was the place to be for family and outdoor fun and recreation last weekend.

Residents and visitors had plenty to do during Sparwood Winterfest and Elkford’s Winter in the Wild Feb. 17-19.

Volunteer help turned the Sparwood Recreation Centre and grounds and Elkford’s Community Conference Centre and adjacent recreational facilities into wonderful winter diversions.

Both arenas and curling clubs hummed with activity including a Kootenay International Junior Hockey League tilt between the Fernie Ghostriders and the Golden Rockets in Sparwood.
