It was a hot and sunny Dark Ages in Kimberley

The City of Kimberley was once again overrun by a medieval horde last weekend during the third annual Kimberley City Bakery Medieval Festival.

Thanks to temperatures in the mid 30s Celsius and the fact the Vikings, knights and other folk of the Dark Ages dress for the damp, dark and dreary, as well as for battle, the city wasn’t completely overrun as much sweating occurred and hydrating was needed.

For two days July 8 and 9, Centennial Park was transformed into a medieval village, with many hundreds of people popping by to watch weapons demonstrations, fighting, a Saturday morning parade, and much more – all for free.
