The Kimberley & District Community Foundation (KDCF) was pleased to present the annual cheque to the City of Kimberley from the BC Winter Games Legacy Endowment Fund.

What began with the surplus from the 1980 BC Winter Games has grown into something truly remarkable.

Since the fund was entrusted to KDCF in 2001, it has:

• Awarded more than $111,700 in grants to support amateur sport in Kimberley.
• Grown from an initial investment of $64,000 to a market value of over $172,000 (as of December 31, 2025).

This is the power of an endowment: supporting our community today while continuing to grow for tomorrow.

As the Kimberley & District Community Foundation celebrates 25 years of building lasting community impact, we’re excited to share that the BC Winter Games Legacy Endowment is now open to public donations!

For the first time, individuals and businesses can help grow this permanent fund while receiving a charitable tax receipt.
