MICHAEL WAITES  

Mayor Ron McRae Dec. 12 presented the Western Facility Operator Master Certificate from the Recreation Facilities Association of BC to Michael S. Waites and congratulated him on his achievement.

SUNMINE PROJECT

Council received with thanks a letter from Teck Metals for their commitment of $2 million investment in the SunMine project, and approved the project in principle subject to an Agreement between Teck Metals, the City of Kimberley and EcoSmart.

KIMBERLEY DANCERS PARENT SOCIETY

Council approved a 50% offsetting rental grant for the use of Centennial Hall January 28, 2012 for the Of a Fashion Fiesta – Fashion Auction.

URBAN DEER COMMITTEE

A letter of resignation was received with regret from Ron Kerr of the Urban Deer Advisory Committee.

CLIMATE ACTION REVENUE INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Council received a report on the 2011 Climate Action Initiatives, titled Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program Report.

MAYOR, COUNCIL AND CITIZEN APPOINTMENTS

Mayor McRae appointed each Councillor to rotating three month terms as Acting Mayor during the 2012 – 2014 period.

Appointments were made to the following Committees/Societies:

Kimberley Public Library

–  Councillor Ratcliffe (2012)

–  Carol Doyle (2012 and 2013)

–  Greg Bradley (2012 and 2013)

–  Brian Leeb (2012)

Kimberley Community Development Society

–  Mac Sykes, Betty Aitchison, Graham Mann and   Bert Banks (two year term expiring December 2013)

–  Patricia Thompson and Edward Funston – RCR representatives (two year term expiring December   2013)

Kimberley Downtown Parking Commission

–  Councillor McCormick (2012)

Bootleg Gap Golf Society

–  Bill McLelland, Rick Kavanagh, Dennis Schick, Terry Ross, Gary Holmes and Andy Gray (two year term expiring December 2013)

Community Sustainability Action Team

–  Kevin Wilson, Economic Development Officer

CANCELLATION – REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

Council approved the cancellation of the Regular Meeting of Council scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December, 28, 2011.

MARYSVILLE FALLS WASHROOM AGREEMENT

City signatories were authorized to execute the Agreement with Betty McCormick/Barking Gecko for the Marysville Falls Washroom for 2012.

HIGHWAY PLOWING

Council approved the City of Kimberley continuing with snow removal practices as done in the past, three times a year depending on snowfall and a letter be sent to the Ministry of Transportation requesting a fully signed crosswalk be placed at Wallinger Avenue and Mark Street and that the no parking signs be replaced with loading zone signs.

RAILS TO TRAILS

Council approved the Operations Department removing snow on one side (one half) of the NorthStar Rails to Trails on the section extending from the Civic Centre to the trail crossing 312th Avenue during the 2011-2012 winter season.
