Kimberley in on speedy Internet program
TELUS is spending $1.5 million this year in Kimberley on establishing faster Internet service.
Kimberley is one of only 28 B.C. communities to be included in TELUSā Gigabit Internet, which weighs in at 1,000 Megabits per second, nearly seven times faster than what is currently available in the region.
The program is part of a $4.7 billion investment between now and 2020 by TELUS āto stay a step ahead of the growing demand for connectivity, including increasing wireless capacity throughout the community and improving the reach, speed and capacity of TELUSā PureFibre network,ā the company noted in a media release.
With this increase in speed, users will be able to:
- Upload high-definition photos and videos in seconds;
- Download an entire album of music in less than five seconds;
- Download a 720p High Definition TV episode in less than 10 seconds;
- Download a Blu-Ray quality movie in two minutes;
- Stream more than 300 hours of Netflix per month without buffering or delays;
- Connect with friends and family with crystal clear video calls;
- Play live multiplayer video games without any game-threatening lag.
