North Star Quilt Society accepts challenge with $602 gift
A couple of months ago the Wasa Lake Quilt Guild put out a challenge to all other East Kootenay Quilt Guilds to make a gift to the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign.
The latest guild to come on board is the North Star Quilt Society from Kimberley. Every member of the group made a personal donation and presented East Kootenay Foundation for Health with a gift of $602 for the campaign.
“I was thrilled to go to Kimberley to accept this donation. Since I grew up in Marysville I personally know several members of the North Star Quilters and when I heard some of the stories of those who are breast cancer survivors it just drives home as to why this campaign is so vital for our region,” explains Donna Grainger, EKFH executive director.
As the room filled with smiles, the talented stitchers eagerly shared their stories of how their love of quilting benefits many such as donations of 30 cancer comfort quilts to local Kimberley residents, gifts of the hand-made beauties to refugee families and fire victims. The group’s next project includes a quilt raffle to be drawn on the 24 September; tickets are available in Kimberley at the Sew Creative Chalet – 260 Spokane Street.
The “Clear View” campaign is about all of us ~ our families, our friends, all deserving the best care.
