On Tuesday, December 31, City Hall and the Public Works Yard will close at 4 p.m. City Hall and the Public Works Yard will be closed for the stat holiday on Wednesday, January 1.

Council Meeting Schedule

Council meetings will resume in January 2020 with the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting being held Monday, January 6 and Regular Meeting of Council taking place Monday, January 13. All meetings are held at 7 p.m. upstairs in Council Chambers at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.

Christmas Tree Disposal

The Regional District of East Kootenay Transfer Station located at 800 Jim Ogilvie Way is the designated area for disposal of Christmas trees.  All residents are encouraged to have their discarded Christmas trees delivered to this area. City trucks will make one pass through each neighbourhood the week of January 13 – 17, 2020 to pick up any remaining trees (dependent upon weather events). If you are unable to dispose of your own tree, please leave it at your garbage collection location in a manner that will not conflict with snow removal equipment.

FREE Downtown Shuttle

The Peak to Platzl downtown shuttle is a FREE scheduled service between the ski resort base area, the upper-mountain accommodations, and the downtown shops, pubs and restaurants. The shuttle service operates every day (including statutory holidays) from Friday, December 27 until closing weekend of the ski season. Coming from Cranbrook? On weekdays, for $6 return trip from Cranbrook, you can catch the KC Commuter bus for a worry-free day on the slopes! For more information, please visit the city’s website.

Snow and Ice Management Plan

Council recently received the 2019-2020 Snow and Ice Management Plan. This plan is revised annually with incremental improvements, and is a guide to the city’s snow and ice control policies intended to advise the public, council, and city staff of when and how snow and ice will be dealt with by the Operations Department. Please visit here to view the plan and other important information about snow removal.

Winter Parking Regulations Around Kimberley Alpine Resort and Nordic Club

Snow sport enthusiasts are reminded that parking is restricted on North Star Drive, Stemwinder Drive and in the vicinity of the bridge on Gerry Sorensen Way. Parking within five metres (15 feet) on either side of a fire hydrant is prohibited as well. These parking regulations were put in place for fire safety and to ensure access for emergency vehicles. Vehicles parked in contravention of the posted parking regulations will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense in the tow away zones. Vehicles blocking access to a fire hydrant will also be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Aquatic Centre Free Public Swim

Come to the Kimberley Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, January 8 from 5 to 6 p.m. for a FREE Public Swim sponsored by Burrito Grill.
