Rehab project on schedule

The City of Kimberley June 7 reported that the 4th Avenue rehabilitation project is on schedule, with crews currently completing storm water infrastructure and finalizing underground utility construction and replace on the lower section.

Once that work is complete upgrades will focus on the Creston Street to Trail Street (upper) sections along 4th Avenue, the city reported.

“During this portion of construction, motorists can expect detours around work areas. Once all underground construction is complete below Creston Street, adjustments to the single lane road will be made to allow for wider lanes and improved emergency access,” the city outlined in a press release.

BC Ambulance, RCMP and the fire department received notice of the project and planned traffic pattern alterations prior to construction, the city noted, adding it is continuously consulting with emergency services officials and “they are monitoring their ability to respond to calls in a timely and efficient way. No issues to date have been reported from emergency services.”

The city asks that motorists please respect all signage and traffic control devices and speed limits throughout the construction area for the safety of workers and others on site.
