Water Quality Advisory for Kimberley

Please be advised that the City of Kimberley is on a Water Quality Advisory as per Interior Health’s guidelines for water quality.

Due to increased turbidity from silt, current water quality in the Mark Creek System is testing as FAIR. Our test readings are above 1 NTU and below 5 NTU.

During spring run-off, the water entering the City of Kimberley’s water distribution system may be cloudy or turbid. Turbidity is a measure of water clarity and can be an indicator of a potential health risk. Water quality is considered to be good when turbidity levels are less than 1 NTU, fair when between 1 to 5 NTU, and poor when greater than 5 NTU.

Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water when turbidity levels are above 1 NTU.  Furthermore, the Interior Health recommends that all users boil their drinking water when turbidity levels are above 5 NTU.

The City of Kimberley posts turbidity levels in the water distrubition system on its website daily (Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays).

Please feel free to contact Interior Health at 1-888-426-7566 or City Hall at 250-427-9660 or click HERE for more information about water turbidity.

A Water Quality Advisory is not a boil water notice for the general public.
