Work causing temporary closures to two Kimberley trails

Beginning Monday, August 15, both the Lion’s Trail and the Marysville Falls Walkway will be closed to the public. Both closures are temporary and will allow for major upgrades and maintenance work to occur.

The Marysville Falls Walkway will be closed until October 31, in order to conduct the complete replacement of the existing boardwalk.

An initiative of the Rotary Club of Kimberley, the new boardwalk and falls trail will allow wheelchair and other mobility device access and include up-to-date safety features. The Rotary Club raised a total of $340,000 to complete this work.

Repairs are also taking place on and around the Lion’s Trail.

It will be closed between the bridge at the Black Bear intersection and the south bridge located across the highway from the Forest Crowne intersection.

It is anticipated that work will take five days to complete and the trail will reopen by end of day on Friday, August 19.

Please avoid both locations for the duration of the projects and respect all posted signage and detour information.

Updates will be provided at www.kimberley.ca once the trails reopen to the public.
