Bandits don’t repeat as Montana B Legion champs

The Cranbrook Bandits came up one short in their attempt to repeat as Montana Legion B State Champions last week in Hamilton, Montana as the Bandits failed to score a run in the championship final, losing 7-0 to the host Bitterroot Red Sox.

The Bandits ended the round-robin portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record, good for second in their division of the 12-team tournament.

Dumping the Billings Boltz 15-1 Thursday morning, the club failed to come back all the way against the Helena Independents, losing 4-3 in the club’s second game. Against the Missoula Mavericks, the Bandits gave up an 11-3 lead before rallying to edge the Mavs 12-11.

Bromley with the catch against Medicine HatIn the playoff portion of the tournament the Bandits defeated the Gallitin Valley Posse 4-0, held off a late charge by the Glacier (Whitefish, MT) Twins to win 8-7 and then dumped the Medicine Hat Majestics 17-4.

The bats went silent in the championship game as the Red Sox capitalized on some timely hits, two errors by the Bandits and forced Cranbrook to go through five pitchers in the 7-0 loss.
