April in the East Kootenay ‘13

April is the month that taunts and teases.

In the mountainous clime of the East Kootenay, April is a fascinating mixture of atmospheric influence – one day ‘AH spring is here!’ to the next, ‘Here it comes again – bloody winter.’

As a photographer seeking the best available light, April is a tease – a flirt with an attention span akin to a dog free to roam in a freshly added-to dump.

This month’s collection features our lead image taken by Chad St. Pierre of ducklings huddling close together for warmth, taken when he was driving home from Invermere, to images showcasing the snowier and lovelier times of the month.

The remainder of the images are of: Cranbrook and area; Moyie Lake and area; Baynes Lake area (creepy doll images on a sign near Highway 3); Bighorn sheep near the Kootenay Trout Hatchery; Wardner/Ha Ha Creek Road and area; Horseshoe Lake; Kimberley; Kootenay River Valley; Marysville; Meadowbrook area; Norbury Provincial Park; NorthStar Rails to Trails; St. Mary’s River; and St. Mary’s River Bridge – a crash and some cleaning; STARS arriving in Cranbrook; Target (pronounced ‘targhze’) preparing to open in Cranbrook; and zap! Heed the zap. Always heed the zap.
