3 facts you need to know
About Fire Prevention
Kootenay East MLA
1. As summer approaches, it’s important to be mindful of the risk of forest fires – particularly this year, with major fires already affecting our neighbours in northern B.C. and Alberta.
2. Many of us may choose to go on camping trips this summer. If you’re having a campfire, make sure you keep at least eight litres of water and/or a shovel nearby to extinguish the fire properly – and be aware of any burning restrictions in the area.
3. You can find more information on fire safety and prevention online at www.gov.bc.ca. To report a wildfire or irresponsible behaviour, 1-800-663-5555, or text *5555 from your cell phone.
