Pauline Newhouse (Polly Put the Kettle On), Samantha Millard, Caio Paagman, Cajsa Fredin, Cheryl Goodwin, Maureen Gagnon and Bryn Stevenson’s talents in ceramics, metal, photography, concrete, acrylic and encaustic medium will be on display from August 9 to 21.

An artist opening event is Wednesday, August 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Art ‘n Soul Workshop with Carney Oudendag

Do you feel the urge to fit some creativity into your life? Are you trying to improve or expand your creative voice? Using mixed media such as: acrylic and metallic paints, gesso, collage, pastels, w/c pencils and a variety of fun and loose techniques, participants will be delighted to find that the art almost creates itself!

A small canvas, playing cards, w/c paper and discarded books will be artistically altered to create some ‘small wonders’ at Pynelogs, Sunday August 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

DIY Animation Workshop with Sarah Frazier

Ever wanted to know how cartoons are made? In this class, you’ll get to make your own flipbooks, stop motion films, and a whole bunch of other neat optical illusions and learn a bunch of ways to make short animated films.  Participants will leave with at least three finished products. Tuesday August 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Cat’s In Hats Workshop with Carney Oudendag

Everyone can enjoy drawing with the help of some easily learned components. Come and discover how to sketch cats using a variety of drawing and art materials. Your cat could be cartoon-like or realistic! Then, design a wild and wonderful hat, crown or cap for your ‘cat in a hat’!  Thursday August 11 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Digital Filmmaking for Beginners with Sarah Frazier

Got a new digital camera you just can’t figure out, or hours of home movies with no idea of how to get them onto DVDs? This workshop is an introduction to the world of digital filmmaking. You’ll be guided through the filmmaking process from setting up a good composition to burning your project onto a DVD. The morning portion of the class will focus on shooting footage outside, and the afternoon half will cover basic editing and DVD production. Sunday August 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To sign up for any of the workshops call 250-342-4423 or drop by Pynelogs Art Gallery & Cultural Centre.
