EKVC U16 boys spike gold in Alberta
The East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC) U16 boys Avalanche team brought home the Volleyball Alberta Provincial Championship 16U Division 2 Men’s gold following a weekend tournament.
The Avalanche faced a tough Rhinos squad in the quarter finals, but emerged victorious thanks to 25-21, 23-25 and 15-8 outcomes. The Avalanche swept aside Fog Red 25-18 and 15-12 and dealt with PVC in a similar manner in the finals, winning 25-14 and 25-21.
Coach Troy McFadzen said he witnessed a full team effort throughout the tournament.
“We played exceptional defense in the playoffs, which provided the energy needed to win. There were highs and lows throughout the weekend with the team playing it’s best ‘team’ focused volleyball in the playoffs,” he said.
The next stop for the EKVC U16 boys Avalanche is the Nationals 16U West in Calgary at the Olympic Oval May 19-22.
