DOI transfer station closed for clean up
There has been a great deal of use at the District of Invermere (DOI) transfer station over the past month and partly due to misuse it will be closing it for a couple of days starting Wednesday, May 10 to cleanup and add gravel to the area, the district reported on its Facebook page.
“Due to the misuse of the transfer station we wish to remind people that if it is not household garbage please bring it to the Regional District of East Kootenay Landfill in Windermere. This includes but is not limited to tires, propane or helium tanks, appliances, yard waste, furniture and electronics,” the district stated.
The new animal resistant bins at the transfer station have been well received and for the most part have been successful, the district added.
