Pano vertical hits 1,300 metres
Panorama Mountain Resort has added new terrain leading into the 2017/18 winter sport season.
“Panorama announces the opening of an additional 128 acres and a further 246 towering-feet of nasty, brutish and long terrain, suitable only for rock stars who can sleep with the lights off. For some maladjusted skiers and riders, this new terrain promises a lot of ‘fun’, in the vein of slaying dragons or mucking about with magic beans. But, they say this terrain is where the wild things are, and so now it’s what the wild things get,” the resort noted in a media release.
The new area boasts four huge new double-black diamond lines guaranteed to make folks lose sleep. This means that Panorama now has 1,300 metres of vertical: that’s an additional 75 metres and 52 hectares of terrain. The extra terrain also means a new resort distance record for a ski run: over 6.5 km long! This terrain expansion is available to skiers and riders for the 2017/2018 season.
And that’s not all, this is simply the first phase of a 500-acre expansion set to roll out over the next few years.
Last year Panorama Mountain Resort was named North American Resort of the Year at the World Snow Awards.
“Panorama’s been creating extraordinary mountain vacations for over 55 years,” said Steve Paccagnan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Panorama Mountain Resort. “This terrain expansion is one of several significant enhancements for this winter. We’ve also heavily invested into our snowmaking to ensure top-to-bottom coverage, and we’re one of the first resorts in Canada to implement RFID ticket technology providing speed and ease for guests to access the slopes. These improvements will help to enhance and foster an incredible guest experience.”
