Annual Book Sale begins Nov. 22
Wednesday, November 22 will be the start of the annual Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library and Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Clubs annual used book sale, taking place at the Ktunaxa Nation gymnasium.
The sale begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22 and is open to members of the Friends of the Library Society, membership can be purchased at the door for $10. The sale continues for the public Thursday to Sunday.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sunday is the popular Bag Sale from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Only Friends/Library bags can be used. Bring your Friends/Library bag and fill it up for $5. Or purchase a bag at the sale and fill it for $10. This is a splendid way to purchase a huge variety of books at great prices!
For over 20 years the two organizations have been collaborating to recycle used books, CDs and DVDs. The proceeds of the sale are divided between the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library and Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club. The Friends use their funds to assist the library with programs and services and Rotary supports community projects such as Scholarships, Youth leadership training, Youth Exchange, Value and Ethics seminars conducted at the High School for grade ten students and other Rotary projects.
The motto of Rotary is Service Above Self. Through cooperation and collaboration with the Friends of the Library, Rotarians continue to make a difference. The other benefits are that Rotarians and Friends society members get to work together side by side to contribute to literacy and education throughout the world and to better reading in our community. At the same time, a significant amount of paper that could just as easily end up in the landfill is being diverted to a far more useful purpose.
