Kimberley Garden Club hosting 10th Garden Tour

After a two-year hiatus, the Kimberley Garden Club is holding its 10th Garden Tour on July 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“This year there will be what we feel are seven stellar gardens in a wide range of styles – some have been on previous tours, some have never been shown,” said Marilee Quist, president of the Kimberley Garden Club.
Visitors will have the option of purchasing a ‘regular’ ticket with garden addresses, descriptions (and a map)and drive themselves to the gardens, or choosing a ‘Tour des Fleurs’ ticket for cycling enthusiasts who want to go as a guided bicycle group and ride to the gardens. More information is on the Tour des Fleurs is on the ticket. Riders of any experience are welcome to join in.
At one of the gardens during tour hours, visitors may wish to purchase light refreshments, consisting of tea, dainty sandwiches and dainty cookies, for a small fee of $4. The refreshments will be served to them at tables under large shade trees. In some of the gardens, plein air artists will be busy painting, perhaps creating a garden-themed masterpiece, freezing this summer’s perfect garden in a moment of time, preserved forever.
As a bonus to Kimberley, all the proceeds from this tour will support the beautification of Kimberley. Over the years, the Garden Club has supported many projects, starting with the Gazebo and surrounding gardens at the Kimberley Special Care Home (The Pines), landscaping at the Kimberley Aquatic Centre, plants for the Marysville Eco Park, funding for Cominco Gardens and for plants in the Platzl planters, shade trees for the Second Steps Daycare and many more.
The most recent beneficiary of funds from the Garden Club is Centre 64, which last year transformed the courtyard into a delightful garden. This garden, designed and constructed by Kimberley resident Suzanne Kennedy will also be open to the public on Garden Tour day.
Tickets, $10, can be purchased in Kimberley at: Bavarian Home Hardware, The Gilded Goat, the Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Information Centre and Top Crop Too. In Cranbrook, tickets can be purchased at Top Crop Garden, Farm and Pets. All tickets have garden addresses and brief garden descriptions along with a Kimberley map marked with the garden locations. Ticket sellers will be accepting only cash or a personal cheque made payable to The Kimberley Garden Club.
