RCMP investigating fatality crash at mine
Elk Valley RCMP are investigating a motor vehicle collision which claimed the life of a Fernie man earlier on Nov. 18 .
Just after 10:30 a.m. Elk Valley Regional Detachment RCMP officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at Teck Coal’s Elkview Operations Mine in Sparwood.
Upon arrival, police learned that a pick up truck had collided with a fully loaded dump truck. The driver of the pick up, a 38-year-old Fernie man, was critically injured and did not survive. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
The circumstances that led up to the collision remain under investigation.
Elk Valley Regional Detachment continues to investigate with support from the BC Coroners Service.
