Fernie SAR responds to full burial slide
At 11:40 a.m. today (Feb. 17) Fernie Search and Rescue was tasked to respond to a full burial avalanche on Mt. Fernie.
Five people were skiing when a slide was remote triggered above them. Four people were caught and buried. Three were able to extricate. They located the last person 15 minutes later at the toe of the slide just above Fairy Creek, Fernie SAR reported on Facebook.
Three SAR techs responded via CDFL and extricated the subject to BC Ambulance Service for transport to hospital.
