The City of Fernie, East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, West Fork Resource Management and the Elk River Alliance are teaming up for a community restoration event July 4 at Dogwood Park (pictured).

“At the event, we will be hand-pulling invasive plant species and reseeding the banks of the Elk River with native grass,” the city explained.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as volunteer appreciation gifts at the event, running from 6 to 8 p.m.
