Calgary man arrested after stolen vehicle spree

Elk Valley RCMP have charged a Calgary man after two stolen vehicles were located along with a third that was badly damaged.

Early Wednesday morning RCMP responded to an alarm at the Fernie GM dealership after the suspect gained entry and tried to drive a car out of the show room causing extensive damage to the car and the showroom, reported Cpl. Robert Wright of Elk Valley RCMP.

Police were notified shortly after that a vehicle had been stolen from a Sparwood business.

Upon investigating that theft, RCMP located a third vehicle that had been stolen out of Alberta. RCMP received yet another call from an alert business owner in Elkford who tracked down a suspicious person in the industrial area after he had been seen prowling around his shop.

RCMP attended and arrested the suspect and located the car that had been stolen from Sparwood earlier.

The unnamed suspect was remanded in custody and will make another appearance in court Friday where he will face several additional charges in B.C.; more charges are pending in Alberta, Cpl. Wright said.
