Elk Valley RCMP Report

COVID-19 – Restrictions

The latest provincial health order requires masks in all public indoor settings, including when not seated at a table at a restaurant.

People with health conditions or with physical, cognitive or mental impairments who cannot wear a mask, people who cannot remove a mask on their own, and children under the age of 12 are exempt from the order.

As of this date, no reports have been filled with the RCMP.

Under the Health Protection Act, individuals who do not self-isolate, or follow social distance requirements, or exhibit abusive or belligerent behaviour for failing to comply with the provincial health order will be fined $230.00.

Anyone in attendance of an illegal gathering can now be fined $1,000.

Elk Valley RCMP would like to thank the communities for their continued support and to the vast majority who are adhering to the directives outlined by government to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

RCMP asks everyone in the Elk Valley to continue with the protection of their communities by reporting crime and suspicious behaviour to  police, and by adhering to the directives outlined by government to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Reporting Fraud is Critical-Stop the Fraudsters

Elk Valley RCMP has seen a slight increase in fraud cases in the Elk Valley. Fraudsters are becoming more and more creative with their scamming techniques, more so with Christmas time around the corner.

The RCMP wants to stress the importance of reporting any fraudulent or suspicious activity to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, through its website at www.antifraudcentre.ca or by telephone at 1-888-495-8501.  The Competition Bureau accepts reports of misleading or deceptive marketing practices by their online complaint form or by telephone at 1-800-348-5358.

The official website of the Government of British Columbia provides valuable information respecting the various categories of scams and fraud.

Elk Valley RCMP would like to wish you and your family peace, health, happiness, and prosperity in the coming year.  Merry Christmas.
