Arthur Milton Gruenig
Art was born on December 4, 1929, to parents Emma and Fred Gruenig in South River, Ontario. He moved west, working for the Bank of Nova Scotia to Grande Prairie, Alberta. One lucky New Years Eve, he met Lois at a party and was smitten. They married on July 29, 1955 and went on to have 4 children.
He was a passionate conservationist and was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Naturalists. He was instrumental in the restoration of Elizabeth Lake and protecting the Western Painted Turtles, the Western and Mountain Blue Birds in the East Kootenays.
A Celebration of Art’s Life will take place at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM with reception to follow. A livestream of the service will be available on the McPherson Funeral Services website under Art’s obituary page.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Naturalists, the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
