City of Cranbrook council Nov. 21 supported the application of Encore Brewing Company for a Liquor Primary License for its establishment at 1400 4th Street North — the former Juniper Lanes property.

The interior service area will have a seating capacity of up to 220 people (205 customers and 15 staff), and the exterior patio will have a seating capacity of up to 60 people which meets BC Building Code requirements. Annual seasonal operation of the patio will be from May through to September.

There were no concerns noted by Planning, Building, Fire & Emergency Services, and the Cranbrook RCMP regarding noise or impact on the community with the proposed hours or capacity, a city staff report noted.

City staff canvassed the views of property owners/occupants within the vicinity of the Encore Brewing Company, inviting written comments regarding the application. In total, 22 notices were sent by mail and no comments were received by the city.
